Nanostructured powders have shown great promise for a variety of applications including chemical gas sensors, high surface
area supports for catalysis, tribology, chemical mechanical polishing, and optoelectronics. In this report, highly dispersed
Pd nanoparticles with a narrow size distribution, and mean diameter of 2±0.2 nm, were deposited at room temperature onto amorphous
carbon and oxide supports (TiO2, Al2O3) by pulsed-laser ablation of a Pd sputtering target. Depositions were performed in Ar at a back-fill pressure of 3 mTorr
after reaching a base pressure of 10-7 Torr. Populations of uniformly dispersed particles with an interparticle spacing of 3 to 10 nm were observed by high-resolution
transmission electron microscopy with little evidence of nanoparticle aggregation. The chemical compositions of individual
nanoparticles were confirmed by high spatial resolution energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. 相似文献

Hydrogen
peroxide is a very versatile oxidizing agent, and it is also environmentally
compatible considering that the products of its exothermic decomposition are
oxygen and water.When kept in a clean temperature-controlled environment,
the self-reaction (decomposition) rate is extremely low. However, it is well
known that even a small amount of contamination will dramatically increase
the reaction rate. This paper describes the use of the fast thermal activity
interpreter (FTAI) instrument to examine the chemical reactivity of commercially
available 50% hydrogen peroxide at two different temperatures (30 and 40°C)
both with and without contamination. The results show that at 30°C a small
amount of rust (330 ppm) increases the reaction rate of 50% hydrogen peroxide
by a factor of 50. When the temperature is increased to 40°C, the reaction
rate is further increased by almost a factor of four. The implication for
reactivity management is that at this contamination level most practical vessel
sizes would require emergency venting capability.
An evaluation
was then performed to determine the emergency venting requirement for the
safe transportation or storage of the contaminated hydrogen peroxide. It was
determined that for quantities of the material less than 5 gallons, conventional
breather vents would be sufficient to accommodate the gas evolved. However,
for larger quantities, a safety relief device would be needed. For example,
for a 400-gallon tote bin at 40°C the required minimum vent area is estimated
to be 4.3 in2, corresponding to a minimum vent

Directed and elliptic flow for the 197Au+197Au system at incident energies between 40 and 150 MeV per nucleon has been measured using the INDRA 4π multi-detector. For semi-central collisions, the excitation function of elliptic flow shows a transition from in-plane to out-of-plane emission at around 100 MeV per nucleon. The directed flow changes sign at a bombarding energy between 50 and 60 MeV per nucleon and remains negative at lower energies. Molecular dynamics calculations (CHIMERA) indicate sensitivity of the global squeeze-out transition on the σ NN and demonstrate the importance of angular momentum conservation in transport codes at low energies. 相似文献

Three batch compositions of pure oxides (SiO2,
Fe2O3, PbO, Na2O)
with equivalent SiO2, Fe2O3
and PbO contents and a gradually increased Na2O content
were vitrified through heating in a high temperature electric furnace and
subsequent quenching. The resulting vitreous products were thermally treated
in order to study the devitrification behaviour, under conditions designated
from differential thermal analysis experiments. Depending on the Na2O
content, crystal phase separation gave rise to the growth of acmite and hematite
or maghemite. A uniformly phase separated glass-ceramic material, with crystallites
of similar size and population density, was produced from devitrification

Magnetization and permeability of polycrystalline ferrites with general formula CdxMg1−xFe2−yCryO4 (x=0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0; y=0, 0.05 and 0.10) were studied. Study of saturation magnetization reveals that the Neel's two-sublattice model exists upto x=0.4, for y=0, 0.05 and 0.1 and a three-sublattice model (YK-model) is predominant for x>0.4 and y=0, 0.05 and 0.10. The saturation magnetization and magnetic moment were found to decrease with the increase in Cr3+ contents, which is attributed to the dilution of B–B site interaction. Variation of initial permeability with temperature revealed the long-range ferromagnetic ordering in the compounds with x=0.4. The sample with x?0.4 and y=0, 0.05 and 0.10 showed peaking behavior near Curie temperature, which is attributed to the decrease of anisotropy constant K1 to zero. Low-frequency dispersion of initial permeability suggests domain wall displacement. Addition of Cd2+ resulted in a sharp decrease in Curie temperature. With the addition of Cr3+, initial permeability was found to decrease. 相似文献

Correlation between the particles from the proton-nucleus interactions in emulsion at 70 GeV/c is presented through the study of the rapidity gap analysis and compared with the two-particle rapidity correlations. It is observed that the strength of correlation decreases as the size of cluster increases. Asymmetry between the forward and backward components were also studied.Authors are thankful to Prof. K. D. This paper presents results of studies on dc electrical conductivity and transference number measurements on potassium bromate
(KBrO3) complexed polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films prepared by solution cast technique. Temperature dependence of dc electrical conductivity
and transference number data indicated the dominance of ion type charge transport in these specimens. The magnitude of conductivity
increased with increase in concentration of the salt and temperature. Using this (PVC + KBrO3) electrolyte, solid-state electrochemical cells were fabricated, and their discharge profiles were studied under a constant
load of 100 kΩ. Several cell profiles such as open circuit voltage, short circuit current, power density, and energy density
associated with these cells were evaluated and were reported. The features of complexation of the electrolytes were studied
by X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy.

The specific features of the “incommensurate-commensurate” phase transitions induced by a magnetic field in multiferroics
(materials with coexisting magnetic and electric ordering) are considered. These materials are ferroelectromagnets, for example,
bismuth ferrite BiFeO3 and BiFeO3-based compounds, which have spatially modulated spin structures. It is shown that the interaction between the electric and
magnetic subsystems of the multiferroic material can lead to an electric-field-induced shift of the critical magnetic field
corresponding to the transition from a spatially modulated state to a homogeneous antiferromagnetic state. According to the
theoretical estimates obtained for material parameters characteristic of the bismuth ferrite, this shift is of the order of
0.5 T in an electric field of 50 kV/cm. The phase diagrams are constructed in the “electric field-magnetic field” coordinates.
The results of calculations performed in the harmonic incommensurate structure approximation are compared with the exact soliton
